The thing that does not fit a category. If you can describe the problem clearly, it can usually be scoped — and if it should not be built, I will say so.
This is probably a good fit if
- There is a weekly manual process you can describe in detail and would love to stop doing.
- Off-the-shelf software almost fits, and the gap is costing you real hours.
- You want someone who will tell you when the software is not worth building.
It's probably not if
- You need a team scaled up on an existing codebase, or twenty-four-hour on-call operations.
- The requirement is still an idea rather than a problem. Bring the problem — the idea can change.

Find the real problem
Before any code, what is being done manually, how often, by whom, and what it costs when it goes wrong. Sometimes the answer at this stage is that you do not need software.
Scope the smallest useful version
The narrowest thing that removes real work, written down plainly so we both know what is being built and what is not.
Build it where you can see it
Built in visible increments against your real process, so it is corrected early rather than delivered as a surprise.
Hand over, or keep looking after it
Documented and handed over, or kept maintained under the same arrangement as the websites. Your call, agreed before the build.
