why I built it
The problem I'm interested in
You want the party to look like somebody planned it, and you have neither a designer nor a spare evening to become one.
What I built
A design library of themed collections, and a generator that prints a party's own details onto games that were already designed properly.
The artwork and the layout are fixed by the design; what changes is the date, the wording and the colours. That is the whole trick — personalisation that cannot make the piece ugly.
What it does
- 28 theme collections in the library, each with its own motifs, frames and listing images
- Games generated per collection — the Romantic Watercolor Wildflower collection carries 16
- The shower date printed under the title of every sheet
- Type and colour pairings chosen per order, with the layout left alone
- Print-ready sheets, sized and bled for home or a print shop
The thinking(2 notes)
The personalisation is deliberately narrow. Anything that lets a customer move the artwork is a way for the thing they receive to come out worse than the picture they bought.
The collections are data, not one-off files, so a new theme is a folder rather than a rebuild.
